Accomplishments for School Board

Fiscal Responsibility & Leadership

  • Part of a board that balanced the budget for the first time in over 8 years.
  • Negotiated a fair and fiscally balanced contract with the teacher’s union. Advocated for teachers, while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
  • Allocated funds for athletics and activities to reduce the financial burden on families.
  • Strong board member leadership throughout the pandemic navigating tough situations.

Prioritizing Education

  • Helped to implement free on line tutoring  for all students throughout the district.
  • Worked with district on the Jump Start Program-a two week program offered during last summer to aid in education recovery.
  • Supported office hours for all teachers to provide extra assistance before or after school.
  • Completed a successful year of in person learning.

Prioritizing Mental Health

  • Increased and emphasized mental health services for all children returning back to school post pandemic.
  • Funded additional therapists to meet the needs of all students. Increased funding for mental health services to allocate funds for one additional counselor.

Goals Moving Forward

  • To continue the strong legacy of PVPUSD being rated #1 in the South Bay for academic achievement (per niche.com)
  • To continue our strong focus on mental health on all campuses throughout the district. To increase services where necessary to assure that the needs of all students are continuing to being met.
  • To continue to make safety and security the top priority in our district with plans to:
    • Increase the number of school resource officers on campuses.
    • Increase student mental health professionals on campuses.
    • Increase surveillance cameras on all campuses.
  • To continue with strong leadership as exhibited through the pandemic navigating situations with the best outcome for students being front and center.
  • To allocate funds to implement another year of free tutoring for all students throughout the district.
